The owner of the ring has been identified and will be getting her ring back shortly! Thanks everyone!
Is this your ring? Here’s the info that I have:
“I found a Sunnyslope 1977 class ring a few years ago, probably at a gas station parking lot in Camp Verde, AZ. Hard to tell what the original metal is. It has faded to a dull gray. The stone is green and faceted. One face has “1977″ and the Viking head; the other side has “Vikings” and what looks to be a flag on it. There are initials inside that are either MST or LSW (depending on which way you hold the ring).
”
If this is your ring, please call Daryl Mallett at 480/275-0232. (He was kind enough to allow me to post his information.)
Summer scoop
So, here’s what’s happening.
One of our own, Charlotte Erdmann Steill will be featured in the August edition of the Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine, on sale at news stands in late July. Charlotte is a licensed real estate agent who also runs her own business Simply Put Organizing (simplyputorganizing.com)
Charlotte specializes in putting together phenomenal organizational systems for home offices, kitchens and other areas of the residential arena. Although she prefers to stay away from corporate settings, she is also available for training seminars that assist employees with organizing their work spaces. Charlotte is currently working with a number of high profile clients….let’s just say she stood me up for lunch to work with Brandon Webb this weekend. LOL
Please keep Charlotte in mind for any needs that you or your associates might have, as well as pick up a copy of the magazine to check out the article!!
Big Kudos to Charlotte.
Other news:
I heard through the grapevine that Mark Kopelman recently received a fantastic promotion. Well earned and well deserved.
Big Congrats to Mark.
Teri and Scott Fyffe are still apparently on their honeymoon. Some of you may remember that they married in October of 2007. LOL
Mike S. Brown has opened a new business Falcon Interiors, LLC. He is busy as heck, but I am sure can make room for any of you with ties to the airline industry, or with your own private jets that may need an upgrading on your cabin environment. Best wishes to Mike for continuing success in his new endeavor.
Happy July Birthday to Steve Hoshor. Thanks for the sushi, I still smell like bait. Grin!!!!
Caleb is sitting somewhere off Martha’s Vineyard at Edward something or other “watching the yachts”. LOL
Mike Hess is……well, who KNOWS where Mike Hess is?????
Dennis and Annie are doing great. Although they do need to meet me for a happy hour SOON!
Tom Perrine is still instructing me on the finer uses of the website.
Last I heard Tim Viterbo was “pulling his hair out”. Grin…..
Randy Dierlam was missing AZ. Uh…Randy??? It’s HOT here!!!!
And I am sorry, there is probably lots more but it is just not coming to me right now….
My son’s band, 13 To The Gallows, is participating in a non profit event to assist the family of a severely abused child. You can check the information out at this site:
www. myspace. com/projectjackson.
I don’t think that anyone can read this story and not be moved. Of course, they are focusing on local businesses to sponsor this CD, but trust me, any and all help for this little guy is greatly appreciated. Let’s see what we can do to make this happen. All donations are appreciated. There is a link on the site to the production company handling the recording of the CD. They will also accept all donations. And any of you who are AZ business owners, this is a great chance to help a local cause, AND get a write off.
And lastly, next year is a biggie in most of our lives, we might not want to admit it, or even say it out loud, but SOME of us will be turning 50. A Fiftieth birthday party is being tentatively planned for spring of 2009. Probably March or April. Details to follow as they become available. Right now, we are just looking for venues and ideas. So….let’s have them…..
You can email either Dennis or me….yeah…we just can’t get enough of it….grin!!!!
And if any of you have news you would like to share, feel free to email me….oh, but you better use the original account ppelizabeth@aol.com. As ONE OF YOU has apparently reported me as a spammer and gotten my OTHER account shut down now. ARGH!!!
So help me, when I find out who you are, I WILL T.P. your house. :0)
Anyway, good luck to those of you still in Phoenix, and enjoying the lovely weather right now, and to all of those who are in nice cool climates, please, don’t tell us about it… LOL
Remember to continue looking for updates at www.sunnyslope1977.org
Love, Health and Happiness to you and yours!!!
Beth
On or about Apr 3 2008, this blog was hit with one of the many Wordpress worms floating around. It posted thousands of “invisible” SPAM links for “free money”, “free mortgage” and gambling web sites. It *may* also have tried an attack against your browser.
It also created 300 dummy accounts that I had to delete by hand. Yuck.
If you visited this site between Apr 3 2008 and today 26 April 2008, AND you were redirected to a funny looking Google page, you might have given your Google password to a SPAMMER (see “phishing”). If you didn’t see a weird Google page, or you saw it and didn’t type your password, you’re fine. Relax.
Everything is fixed here, now.
Now for the RANT:
(&$%(*&$ spammers! Die! Die!
I was surfing around Wikipedia, as I sometimes do late at night and came across this and this. There’s even a very cool photo of the SHS “S” on the mountain, taken from over 30 miles away. Our “S” is a highly-visible landmark for all of Phoenix.
Are you a little bit country, or a little bit rock and roll??
The signing parties are set!
Both a North valley and a Southeast location have been chosen in order to make it easier for classmates to attend, either or both.
November 16th (Friday) will be held at:
THE LOFT AGAIN
15015 N. Cave Creek Rd.
Phoenix, AZ 85032
(602-482-3130)
Just south of Greenway Road (not Parkway)
We are fortunate enough to be entertained that evening by Tim O’Connor (yes, YOUR Tim O’Connor) and his band Backstage Crew, great classic rock with a little country thrown in. The band starts at 9:00 pm. Grads are asked to get there early to give time to hand out the Valhallas and for signing for those who wish to have their books signed.
Out of state grad’s books will also be available at that time.
November 17th (Saturday) is to be held in Mesa at:
ROOSTER’S COUNTRY
3731 E Main St
Mesa, AZ 85205-8516
Rooster’s boasts a laid back country atmosphere, and a great live band. So dust off your boots and hat and join us for some two stepping fun!!! Parking at Rooster’s can be a challenge, and we have those books to get signed so get there early!! The band also starts at 9 pm.
If you did not attend the reunion, this is a GREAT second chance(s) to see your old friends. And for those who did, you know what a great time we had. One last chance to do it again, get your 30 year book signed, save us some mailing costs LOL, and have some fun!!!
If you did NOT attend the reunion, the Mini Valhalla and DVD’s are available for sale. A LIMITED number will be available at the signing party, please TRY to buy yours ahead of time to ensure that you will get one!!
Send a check in the amount of $15 to
SHS Reunion Committee

Any and all questions can be directed to pp1elizabeth@aol.com (Beth) or dmann13@cox.net (Dennis)
Dear Grads,
Thank you all for helping to make the 30th Reunion a fantastic event, filled with fun and memories.
It was wonderful seeing everyone again, reconnecting with old friends, and establishing new relationships with those I didn’t know well in high school.
Many of you took pictures at the events and we would like to ask that you forward, to the committee, any that you would like to see included in the Mini Valhalla or the accompanying CD. Email is best!!!! Send them to pp1elizabeth@aol.com or to dmann13@cox.net.
The Valhallas are currently being given the finishing touches, however, it is STILL not too late if you have not completed your survey, given your contact information, or sent in the pictures of school days, family, friends, and current pics of yourselves.Â
You ARE running out of time. This is not a drill. We need everything turned in by October 19th. No extensions will be granted. Please forward them to pp1elizabeth@aol.com or to dmann13@cox.net.
In addition, the committee is planning a Valhalla signing party. It will be a no host event with a site still to be determined. We are tentatively looking at a date of November 10th. So mark your calendar. If you are out of state and would like your book to be available for signing. Please let us know.
If you did NOT attend the main event at the Valley Ho, the Mini Valhalla is available for purchase at a cost of $15. You may send your checks to:
SHS Reunion
PO Box 2468
Peoria, AZÂ 85380-2468
Please be SURE to include your mailing address and your name!!!!
Â
If you did attend, the Valhalla was included in the price of your tickets.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact either Dennis or me at the email addresses listed above.
Again, great to see you all, thank you for making it a great reunion!!!
Beth
Thanks to everyone who attended any of the three main events, and thanks especially to Dennis, Ann and Beth for creating this gathering. Dennis and Ann also put together two videos which were shown Saturday evening, using yearbook and photos provided by our classmates. There will be a larger version of the reunion booklet that was distributed at the event, stay tuned for details on how to get yours.
It was amazing to see everyone again, and it was clear that everyone was really enjoying renewing old friendships. We also found out that the world is a smaller place than we knew! For example, two of our classmates never knew that they live only a few miles away from each other in Hawaii, and we have clusters of classmates in San Diego, Seattle and the Bay Area (in addition to all the people still in the Valley area).
Based on all the camera flashes, there were probably several hundred photos taken, and I’ve been asked about putting those pictures on this site. I’ll be working on creating a picture gallery over the next week or so, there will be news about that soon so keep visiting this site.
Also, I was asked about this site’s future after the reunion. This site and the email list will stay up until people aren’t using it anymore. I have the domain pre-paid for a few more years, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was used for the next reunion.
Thanks to everyone who worked to make the reunion a great success, thanks to those who attended.
For all of you who couldn’t make it, don’t worry, we told a lot of stories about you!
So plan to make it to the next one!
(PS - Comments are enabled for all the posts on the site. Feel free to add your own comments about the reunion there, or if you want to write your own articles, just contact me directly.)
Diana’s Digital Photography will be at the reunion, taking portrait and other photographs.
Diana has offered us special pricing on a few picture packages; orders should be available within just a few days of the event.
If you want to pre-order or for more information you can find her order form here. This is a Microsoft Excel file, you might need to do the “right click and save as” dance, depending on your web browser. There will be printed forms and business cards available at the reunion event as well.
